Manchester United have been advised to bring in Liverpool legend if Erik ten Hag gets sacked
After reports emerged suggesting Graham Potter is a possible replacement for the Dutchman, Manchester United have now been advised to seek Liverpool Icon Xabi Alonso.
Erik Ten Hag has been catching a lot of flak for Manchester United’s struggles this season. The Red Devils exited the Carabao Cup after a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United. Shortly afterwards, their Champions League campaign also came to an end.
If the Dutchman fails to produce results soon, the possibility of him being axed will become very real. Now, Steve McManaman has advised the Old Trafford hierarchy to seek Xabi Alonso as a possible replacement.
Xabi Alonso has had an excellent run with his current team. The Spanish coach has led Bayer Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga table. The team is 4 points ahead of reigning champions Bayern Munich.
Moreover, Alonso’s team is yet to drop a single Bundesliga game. They have been unbeaten all season and will look to stay unbeaten as they prepare for their final game of 2023.
The former Liverpool midfielder is a Premier League legend and will excel at the helm of Manchester United. Instead of pursuing Potter who was sacked by Chelsea, the team should focus on Xabi Alonso.
As reported by Mirror, Liverpool icon Steve McManaman believes the Red Devils should go for someone that has a winning record, instead of Potter who is mostly known for his failures at Chelsea.
