Roy Keane was livid with the Liverpool skipper after he took a ‘dig’ at Manchester United
Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane did not take kindly to Virgil van Dijk’s comments after Liverpool failed to beat the Red Devils. He even went as far as to tell the Reds’ skipper to keep his ‘arrogance’ in check.
During the game against Ten Hag’s men, Liverpool looked like a different team. They dominated possession of the ball at 68% and fired off 34 shots at the Manchester United goal compared to just 6 shots by the Red Devils (fot.mob).
Obviously, Virgil van Dijk was frustrated and disappointed with the result. He held a firm belief that the Reds should have run away with the game. Keane clearly did not like the Liverpool defender’s words after the game.
"He needs a reminder he's playing for a club that's won one title in 30 odd years."

Roy Keane made it obvious that he was taking a dig at Van Dijk by pointing out that his club Liverpool have only won one title in 30 odd years.
Now, let’s have a look at what the Liverpool skipper said to deserve such flak from Roy Keane. (h/t Sky Sports)
“There was only one team trying to win the game. Unfortunately it didn’t happen. We want to win every game, especially a team like them.”
Calling Manchester United “a team like them” is a tad bit arrogant on Van Dijk’s part. But, while he continues to rant about how his team should’ve won, the most important stat is the scoreline which read 0-0 after the final whistle. But then given that we were thoroughly outplayed, there is little we can flex about.
Even during the game, one could easily tell that Virgil van Dijk was growing increasingly frustrated as time went on. Maybe, if he had kept his cool the results would’ve been different.

Liverpool are surely not happy after managing to grab just one point against Man United. On the other hand Ten Hag and team will be relieved to finally come away with a result that did not put them in the history books.
Sunday’s draw should help The Red Devils improve on their performance and start to mount a comeback. All eyes are now on Ten Hag as the Old Trafford squad turn their eyes towards their next opponents, West Ham United.
