Former Manchester United player Lee Sharpe insists Kobbie Mainoo is a better player than Amrabat and Casemiro.
According to Manchester Evening News, former Manchester United player Lee Sharpe firmly believes that youngster Kobbie Mainoo, who excelled in last Sunday’s match against Everton, surpasses recent signing Sofyan Amrabat and former Real Madrid star Casemiro in midfield prowess.
The 18-year-old has only appeared a few times for Manchester United but has already garnered high praise.
According to 888Sports (h/t Metro), Sharpe said:
“When you’re bringing off your new signing, Sofyan Amrabat, to replace him with a young lad [against Galatasaray], it says a lot about his ability. You’ve also got Casemiro not playing at the moment, and I think Mainoo can keep each of them out of the team – I reckon he’s better than both of them.”
He made his first competitive appearance for the club, starting in the 3-0 Premier League victory over Everton last weekend. His confident performance earned him a spot in the Champions League match against Galatasaray on Wednesday night.
While United fans were aware of Mainoo’s talent, there were initial concerns about the timing of his debut. However, these concerns proved unfounded. Mainoo displayed remarkable composure and could be the solution to the team’s midfield challenges. We eagerly anticipate his continued impressive performances in upcoming matches.
Sharpe suggests that Mainoo might be the answer to Erik ten Hag’s midfield conundrums, outshining experienced teammates like Casemiro and Amrabat.
However, it’s worth noting that both players have had their struggles. Casemiro, in particular, had a strong start to his first season but was sidelined by a long-term injury, which hampered his progress. Nevertheless, there is optimism that he will regain his previous fitness level upon returning to full-time training with the squad.
While Mainoo’s performance against Everton was impressive, it was Garnacho who stole the show with a remarkable overhead kick, drawing Sharpe’s attention. Mainoo is already proving his worth in the game and could quickly become a key player in Ten Hag’s team.
