Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof outlined his transfer plans with a desired return to Vasteras SK in future
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof revealed that the return to club Vasteras SK is “at the top of the list”. The 29-year-old played for Vasteras before moving to Benfica during the summer of 2012 at the age of 18.
The Sweden captain is currently serving his national team in the November international break. During the international break, Sweden will face Azerbaijan and Estonia in the UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers. The Swedes are already out of the race to qualify for EURO 2024 after a poor campaign in the qualifiers.
Lindelof is currently in the last season of his contract but United have the option to trigger the one-year extension. The Sweden international’s home team Vasteras returned to Allsvenskan after achieving a promotion last season.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen (h/t Manchester Evening News), Lindelof shared his desire to play for Vasteras once again. He said:
“We’ll see how the body feels in a few years because I feel that I don’t want to come home and be half injured and not be able to perform at a good level. Getting to come home and play with VSK [Vasteras SK] would be a lot of fun. It’s my hometown. Should it happen that I come home, it is definitely at the top of the list.”
United signed Lindelof from Benfica during the summer of 2017 under former manager Jose Mourinho. The Sweden captain has struggled to maintain the starting role in the senior squad but featured regularly this season.
