Manchester United are looking to sign Real Betis teenage sensation Assane Diao
The wing areas at Manchester United paint a very sorry figure and it comes as no surprise to see them being linked to a number of names varying from superstars to starlets and the latest one to join the list is Real Betis sensation Assane Diao.
The wingers at Manchester United have hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons this season. Enough and more has been said about Jadon Sancho and Antony. Although the latter is back, he has been struggling to find form for quite some time now.
Marcus Rashford is going through one of his worst spells since the start of this season. Alejandro Garnacho has blown hot and cold, unlike last season when he almost always delivered when called upon by Erik ten Hag.
Despite all the promise that Facundo Pellistri has shown whenever given a chance, Erik ten Hag does not really seem to trust him. He does not give the Uruguayan as much game time as he does to some of the other players, despite them performing poorly.
Many expected Amad Diallo to really step it up this season but an injury has kept him out since pre-season. He is closing in on a return though and considering the volatile situation the club finds itself in, he might be given a fair run in the team.
We wonder how Anthony Elanga must be feeling at the moment. The Swedish winger departed Old Trafford in the summer to join Nottingham Forest in search of regular game time. If he had known how the situation on the right wing would have panned out, Elanga might have wanted to stick around for a little longer.
Coming to Assane Diao now, the latest player Manchester United are being linked with, according to Spanish publication Fichajes. The 18-year-old has three goals in just five appearances for Real Betis this season and has understandably caught the attention.
Born in Senegal, the teenage prodigy has chosen to represent Spain at the national level and was part of the U-19 Euro 2023. The choice of representing La Roja over Senegal shows the immense belief he possesses in his abilities.

Diao’s contract apparently contains a €30 million release clause but Manchester United might be apprehensive about triggering it. Ideally, they must wait for a while, see how Diao performs and then try and negotiate a fair price for him with Betis. Let’s see how this one pans out.
