Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Edmond Tapsoba of Bayern Leverkusen
According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are ready to tussle with Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.
Given all the challenging circumstances the London side were in last season, Tottenham Hotspur are off to an impressive start this time around. On the other hand, United are struggling to win games, let alone convincingly.
United’s current defensive options are not really convincing and Erik ten Hag has to play with a limited number of defenders at the back due to an injury crisis that is plaguing the centre-back and left-back regions.
It is not always that you see a team have their first-choice central defender, their three left-back options and their first-choice right-back all injured at the same. Call it fate, call it bad luck – it is what it is and the club have to deal with it.
Tapsoba could have joined United this summer itself, but Harry Maguire’s failed transfer meant that the transfer didn’t happen. Now, with all these injuries, the Red Devils are struggling for depth and would want to sign a new centre-back in January.
Spurs are also in the race to sign Edmond Tapsoba during the upcoming transfer window, though. They still have an undefeated record in the league and have many outstanding players. They don’t appear to be missing Harry Kane at all.
Who will step in to fill the vacuum now that United are missing Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Aaron Wan Bissaka? Ten Hag is playing Amrabat at the left-back position which is not his natural position and the chemistry in the team is lacking.
Adding Tapsoba could be just the catalyst that we need. For Leverkusen, he has played 145 games in which he scored 6 goals and had 2 assists. Another interesting fact is that he has not received a red card yet which shows that he is not rash in his decision making.
