Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount appealed for improvement to his teammate after the defeat at Old Trafford
Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount told MUTV that the team needs to improve in order to win games. The Red Devils suffered a 0-1 loss against Crystal Palace in the Premier League game at Old Trafford.
United won two consecutive games which included the 3-0 victory against the Eagles in Carabao Cup. The surprising loss has derailed United’s hope to finally rejuvenate their season after the poor start.
The Red Devils conceded the goal in the 25th minute of the game from Joachim Anderson’s stunning goal. The Eagles put a defensive masterclass to keep United at bay.
Mason Mount told MUTV that the Red Devils need to improve in areas of the field where they showed vulnerability. He said:
“We have to improve and we will improve. We want to perform for the fans and we want to win games for them. “We’ll improve, we need to go away and look at some areas that just weren’t there today”.
United substituted Mount in the 77th minute of the game as the English midfielder had just returned from a long-term injury.
The 24-year-old had a disappointing evening as United only managed to hit four shots on target despite dominating the possession.
The Red Devils played 734 passes but their build-up was slow and easily nullified by the Palace defensive line.
United are currently lying on the 9th position in the Premier League having lost four out of the seven games. There are few clubs yet to play their respective games in matchday 7 which means they might drop further.
The 24-year-old needs to improve his individual performance as much as the collective performance of the team.

United signed Mount this summer to add creativity in the midfield yet creativity was sorely lacking in the game. United fans would be hoping that the inconsistencies they have seen so far will not persist throughout the season. The Red Devils ended the trophy drought last season with a Carabao Cup. We think the minimum expectation of a club of United’s stature should be a trophy and Champions League qualification.
