Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is super excited to build a partnership with Rasmus Højlund
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford spoke to PLP Productions (h/t Manchester United official site) about his excitement about forming a partnership with Rasmus Højlund.
The 25-year-old believes that the chemistry between him and Højlund can be mutually beneficial for both players and the club.
Rashford assisted Højlund for the Red Devils’ first goal of the game against Bayern Munich in the 49th minute. United lost the match 4-3 to the German giants in the Champions League Group A opener on the 20th of September.
Rashford spoke highly of Højlund to PLP Productions (h/t Manchester United Official site) and emphasized the importance of building relationships. He said:
“I just want to understand his (Højlund) game and for him to understand my game as quickly as possible. So far it has been good and we obviously had the unlucky one at Brighton that got disallowed, but then in the following game we’ve got one where we have combined for a goal, so I am very happy for him. I’m sure it is a relationship that will help both players, so I am excited for it, excited for the future”
The England international has faced serious criticism from fans and pundits over his lack of teamwork and contribution.
Rashford showcases incredible pace and power as he goes past opponents, while also making clever off-the-ball movements to exploit spaces.
However, the 25-year-old is too reliant on cutting inside and shooting which makes him predictable for the opponents.
The Red Devils signed Højlund from Serie A side Atalanta during the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old contributed 10 goals and four assists to his former Italian club in 34 appearances.
Højlund possesses the pace and physique to lead the team from the No. 9 position. The Danish international’s qualities are still raw but he is already at a level to contribute immediately for United.

The England international can add more flair to his game to become unpredictable and contribute more to the team. Whereas, Højlund can benefit from getting services from the flank to score and develop his game at Old Trafford.
