Manchester United learn the asking price for Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry
According to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have learnt the asking price for talented German winger Serge Gnabry who plies his trade for Bayern Munich.
Gnabry extended his deal at Bayern Munich almost a year ago which would see him stay at the club until 2026, but United seemed determined to shorten his spell.
Manchester United are facing a very curious situation with their squad right now. They went into this season having two solid options to play on the right-hand side of the attack – Antony and Jadon Sancho. A month in, the duo are completely out of the first-team picture for non-footballing reasons.
It is slowly becoming clear that Man United need to find a right winger in the market in January. The Red Devils may consider signing former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry. The German giants are demanding £51.8million to part ways with him.
Erik ten Hag has been forced to deploy Facundo Pellistri in that position and to be fair to the Uruguayan, he has taken his chance well. He might be looking at someone like Mason Mount who can play there too, now that he is fit.
Gnabry has been a mainstay in the Bayern team. The German forward, a consistent starter for Bayern Munich for much of his time there has in recent times fallen behind the sensational Leroy Sane in the pecking order.
While it is not being talked about, there is a feeling that the 28-year-old is going through a dip in his career after a long time. A move away from Germany and a fresh start might just be what he needs and what better place to start than Man United?
Gnabry would be a great addition to our team, especially with the uncertain futures of Antony and Sancho. It will not be easy considering Bayern’s asking price. Only time will tell if this transfer materialises.

One can imagine that such a thing could depend on Sancho and Antony’s future at the club. If even one of them is ousted, Gnabry becomes a very good target for strengthening the first XI.
