Manchester United are willing to offer Hannibal Mejbri a new contract after impressive progress this season

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are set to start contract talks with the promising talent Hannibal Mejbri, who has been delivering noteworthy performances for the club this season.

The 20-year-old’s current contract with the Red Devils is set to expire at the end of the ongoing season. The club is said to be planning to secure his services for the long term by offering an improved contract.

While the English giants do possess the option to extend Mejbri’s contract for an extra year, negotiations for a fresh contract are expected to kick off in the near future.

The Tunisian midfielder has featured in just three matches in all competitions this season, starting in two of them and managing to score a goal.

Mejbri scored his first goal for United during a 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion and followed it up with another impressive showing in a 1-0 Premier League victory over Burnley.

He was among the standout performers in the recent Carabao Cup third-round match against Crystal Palace.

The Academy graduate’s recent displays have increased the level of trust that manager Erik ten Hag has in his abilities, and the young player is aiming to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup moving forward.

However, achieving this might be challenging for the midfielder, given the quality of options in the club’s star-studded squad.

Mejbri earned his place in Man United’s first team this season after a productive loan stint with Birmingham City last year. During his loan, he managed to score one goal and provide five assists in 38 Championship matches, although Birmingham only managed a 17th-place finish in the English second division.

During the summer transfer window, the youngster was an asset for United, with rumours suggesting that Turkish Super Lig powerhouse Besiktas expressed interest in securing his services on a season-long loan.

The reigning Europa League champions, Sevilla, have also been keeping an eye on Mejbri‘s development at Old Trafford. However, United are determined to fend off any interest in their emerging talent by offering him a new contract.

The African star can be a regular starter in cup competitions and other Premier League games for the Red Devils. He has the pedigree to compete with the senior players in the squad.

This would also give Ten Hag an excellent chance to rotate his players, making sure they are fresh for crucial games. The African star is helping the club in many ways, especially at a time when United missed several key players due to injuries.

The fans will hope that the player continues this momentum and commits his future to Old Trafford.
