Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana owns up to the blame for Bayern Munich loss
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana talked to TNT Sports reporter Jules Breach (h/t Daily Star) to sincerely accept his role in United’s loss against Bayern Munich.
United signed Onana from Inter Milan for a deal worth £47.2m after the club legend David De Gea departed.
The 27-year-old played an integral role for Inter during their 2022-23 Champions League campaign, guiding the team to the finals.

Onana told TNT Sports reporter Jules Breach (h/t Daily Star) that he needs to learn from his mistakes that took the team down. He added:
“It’s difficult to lose this way, because in the beginning we started very good, and after my mistake, we lost control of the game. It’s a difficult situation for us [and] for me especially, because I’m the one who let the team down. The team was very good, I think. Because of me, we didn’t win this game.”
The Red Devils lost 4-3 against Bayern in their opening Champions League Group A draw at Allianz Arena.
The loss continued the nightmare form for United as they have suffered four losses in six games, in all competitions.
Bayern opened the scoreline through Leroy Sané’s goal when the Cameroon international spilled the ball into his own net.
Onana has conceded a total of 14 goals in six games for United while managing to keep just one clean sheet. The new United goalkeeper approached the media to sincerely own up for the mistakes he had made in the game.
We think it shows his strong character and ability to take responsibility when things go bad. Onana could’ve made excuses or completely ignored the media but he wanted to take the blame and protect his team-mates.

The gesture has not gone unnoticed as many United fans have praised the mindset of their new signing. A lot of football is yet to be played and we hope that Onana can find the form that earned him a lot of applause last season when he was playing for Inter.
