Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka ruled out for several weeks after picking up an injury against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday
According to the club’s official website (h/t the Athletic), Manchester United have received a new setback as defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is sidelined for up to two months due to an unfortunate injury in the Premier League (PL) match against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
The English star, who has been a crucial figure for the team this year, earned his place as the regular right-back towards the end of the previous season, displacing Diogo Dalot.
The 25-year-old had started the new season as the preferred option in the starting XI under Erik ten Hag but is currently unavailable due to an injury.
He was only able to make an 85th-minute appearance as a substitute against Brighton on Saturday due to an illness.
The club has since revealed that he picked up the injury during his brief appearance, and while a complete evaluation is needed, initial signs point to him being sidelined for approximately two months.
Man United’s new PL season has begun poorly, marked by three losses in their first five games. The team is now gearing up for a challenging Champions League match against Bayern Munich this Wednesday, but they’ve received a major setback.
Wan-Bissaka, known for his excellent one-on-one defending, would have played a significant role against players like Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman.
With the former Crystal Palace star unavailable, Dalot is expected to take on the role of right-back for games to come.
The Portuguese star has shown significant improvement and has become one of the team’s most dependable players under Ten Hag.
While Dalot is more proficient in attacking compared to Wan-Bissaka, the latter holds an advantage when it comes to defensive abilities.
The Red Devils have faced a series of injury setbacks this season, but there could be some positive developments on the horizon.
The manager recently stated that one or more players may return for the Bayern clash. But for now, they have to deal with such an injury crisis with the options they have in the squad.
With a hectic schedule ahead, the fans would be worried about the team’s ability to stay competitive this season.

Having several key players injured at such an early point in this season is not a good sign for a team that is vying to win more trophies.
It remains to be seen how Wan-Bissaka’s injury impacts the club’s defensive performances and whether Dalot makes up for the loss of one of the most dependable players in the squad.
