Manchester United release official statement on Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have released an official statement on Jadon Sancho as the player’s future at the club still remains uncertain.

Sancho is right in the middle of the controversy that is surrounding the English giant after the player had a public spat with United manager Erik ten Hag.

The 23-year-old missed inclusion in United’s matchday squad against Arsenal, a game the Red Devils lost 3-1. Ten Hag clarified after the match that Sancho’s exclusion was based on “his performances in training.”

The English international immediately clapped back towards the manager to defend himself by posting a message on the social platform, X. Sancho deleted the post where he claimed he had “been a scapegoat for a long time.”

Sancho’s public retaliation against Ten Hag divided the fanbase and football experts, with people offering opinions on who to blame.

The statement released from United’s official site stated:

“Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.”

In the midst of all the chaos, Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq tried to make a loan deal with the Red Devils for Sancho. The deal fell through when United put £50m obligation-to-buy clause as a demand as the Saudi club was not willing to accept that.

United are currently facing a slight crisis in their attacking line-up with diminishing options. Marcus Rashford, Antony Martial, Rasmus Højlund, and Alejandro Garnacho are the forwards that are currently available. The Red Devils granted Antony a leave of absence, and they loaned out Mason Greenwood to Getafe this summer.

Martial has been poor so far this season. Additionally, 20-year-old Højlund, who just returned from injury and is a new signing, needs time to acclimate to his teammates. Garnacho is still just 19 years old and mostly used as a substitute to run at the tiring opposition defence.
