Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho has praised Sergio Reguilon on Instagram for his fine performance against Brighton and Hove Albion
As stated by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has reacted to Sergio Reguilon’s recent Instagram post, praising the Spaniard for his debut performance against a spirited Brighton and Hove Albion.
Reguilon, who left Tottenham Hotspur on loan to move to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, made his home debut for Erik ten Hag’s team on Saturday. Unfortunately, the Red Devils suffered a shocking 3-1 loss to the Seagulls.
The English giants have faced difficulties this season, and even playing at home, they couldn’t compete with Roberto de Zerbi’s side.
Reguilon, who started as the left-back for United, played for 85 minutes before being substituted by Garnacho.
The former Atletico Madrid star is understandably disappointed with United’s loss but is also pleased to have made his debut for arguably the biggest club in England. In his recent Instagram post, he wrote:
“Not the result we wanted but I am proud to have made my debut with Manchester United
Thanks, Old Trafford for the welcoming.”
Meanwhile, Argentine winger Garnacho has lauded the 26-year-old defender for his energetic display despite suffering a defeat. He replied by saying:
“Very good game bro.” (with a clapping and a heart emoji)
Reguilon had a promising start in the match for United, but his frequent attacking movements left openings that Brighton were able to exploit throughout the game.
The full-back’s limited playing time this season became apparent in the second half as his performance declined.
While it wasn’t one of his top-notch displays, the Spaniard still provided his potential as a valuable addition to Ten Hag’s squad. He showed promise in his attacking contributions but had room for improvement defensively.
Reguilon seemed comfortable in his clash against the threatening Brighton winger Simon Adingra. Despite not being at his best, the Spaniard outperformed many of his United teammates during Saturday’s match.
His loan signing was driven more by necessity than choice, making it somewhat embarrassing that he emerged as the top performer among other regular players in the starting XI.
Nevertheless, the fans will be happy to have a dependable left-back, at least until January, to fill in for the absent Luke Shaw.
He will face competition from Diogo Dalot, and hence, he will need to be at his best in order to get more games in his bag in the next few months.
