Manchester United icon Peter Schmeichel believes that Rasmus Hojlund has no weaknesses
Former Manchester United icon Peter Schmeichel believes that Rasmus Hojlund doesn’t have any known weaknesses in his game as he prepares for his first home appearance against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Danish striker became a part of the Red Devils’ squad in August, having moved from Atalanta. He made his debut against Arsenal just before the international break, following his recovery from a back injury.
In his brief appearance, the 20-year-old put on a commendable performance. He posed a threat to Arsenal’s defence and even had a chance to earn a penalty just before stoppage time.
Today, Hojlund is all set to make his first-ever appearance at Old Trafford. There are expectations that he will be selected in the starting lineup, potentially ahead of Anthony Martial.
Schmeichel stated in the pre-matchday interview that the former Serie A ace possesses a flawless skill set and possesses all the qualities necessary to evolve into a top-tier striker.
As quoted by the club’s official website, he said:
“There isn’t a weakness in his game. There isn’t a part of his game where he can’t be absolutely excellent. This guy is everything: he’s big, strong, quick, physical, technical, tactically adept. Everything you want in a footballer, everything you want in a striker.”
“He’s just got complete and utter unfulfilled potential and I’m very excited about him at United, because I don’t think we’ve ever had a player like him.”
Hojlund’s arrival at the Red Devils was met with much excitement as he’s been likened to the next Erling Haaland due to their similar qualities in the attacking third.
The former Atalanta forward brings a robust physical and aerial presence, combined with impressive speed. Furthermore, he has the ability to squeeze past the defenders with his dribbling skills and boasts incredible finishing.
The young player hasn’t yet achieved the consistent performance level needed to establish himself as a well-known striker.
However, in our perspective, Man United, with Erik ten Hag as the coach, provides him with the ideal environment to develop that consistency.
Hojlund has already showcased his talent on the international stage, scoring six goals this year, and supporters are eager to see him replicate that success with United.
