Fenerbahce are showing interest in Manchester United midfielder Donny Van de Beek
According to Turkish publication A Spor (h/t Manchester Evening News), Turkish club Fenerbahce is looking to add another midfielder from Manchester United to their ranks with interest in wantaway midfielder Donny Van de Beek.
Fred has already completed his move from United to Fenerbahce but with the Turkish window still open, they are planning to add Van de Beek to their rank who has fallen down the pecking order at United.
Van de Beek’s move from Ajax Amsterdam to United was met with utmost excitement as we were signing one of the top talents in European football and faced competition from Real Madrid for his signature.
However, soon it was pretty evident that it was a club signing and not one demanded by then manager Ole Gunner Solksjaer who barely played the Dutch midfielder in his first season in England.
The second season also did not bring about much change in the situation with a failed loan spell to Everton just making things worse for the midfielder.
However, when Erik Ten Hag was appointed as the manager of United, it was felt that the player would finally get his due share of chances having played under the manager before at Ajax. Things did not materialise in the manner expected and a season-ending injury in Ten Hag’s first season at the club has now led to the situation where all parties are expected to move on.
It should also be noted that Ten Hag was the manager at Ajax when his transfer was sanctioned for United. This could create the assumption that the Dutch manager never particularly favoured the midfielder. Van de Beek’s performances since have done little to improve his chances either.
There were many teams interested in the player during the transfer window but no move materialised leading to the player still being at the club.
