Liverpool and Manchester United ‘remain keen’ on Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch
Manchester United and Premier League rivals Liverpool ‘remain keen’ on signing Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Red Devils and the Merseyside outfit got in touch with the Bavarians for information regarding the Holland national’s future. Erik ten Hag and Jurgen Klopp’s teams have their eyes on the 21-year-old.
However, as things stand, the Bundesliga giants have no intention of parting ways with the midfielder. But the Old Trafford side and the Anfield side will be waiting in the wings if things do change.
Gravenberch made his way through the youth ranks at Ajax Amsterdam. He developed and got opportunities in the first team under Ten Hag. Subsequently, last summer, Bayern came knocking for his signature.
However, the midfielder’s debut campaign in Germany was not a fruitful one on an individual level. Game time has been hard to come by for the Holland national at the Allianz Arena side. He started in just three league matches for the Bavarians.
A lack of opportunities at Bayern also seemingly cost Gravenberch a place in the national team setup for the 2022 World Cup. Therefore, it would be understandable if the Holland national wanted to leave this summer.
At United, Erik ten Hag has been provided the services of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount since the summer of 2022. The Brazil and Danish nationals were pivotal to the little success we had last season.
However, the Red Devils evidently lack strength in depth. While the addition of Mount from Chelsea is a welcomed one, adding cover for the former Real Madrid star in our engine room is also arguably important.

Gravenberch has not been his best in recent months but has shown immense potential in the past under Ten Hag. However, for now, it would be wise for us to focus on a player with a more defensive profile to bolster the engine room.
