Real Sociedad close to Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek transfer
Manchester United star Donny van de Beek is close to making a switch to Real Sociedad in the ongoing transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Todofichajes.
The La Liga outfit are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with the Red Devils to acquire the services of the Holland international. However, the Reale Arena side are yet to reach a consensus with the Old Trafford side on the terms of the deal.
United would like to part ways with the midfielder on a permanent basis this summer. However, La Real are looking at an operation that would see the 26-year-old join them on loan with an option to buy at the end of it.
But as things stand, the Red Devils and the La Liga outfit are expected to reach an agreement for Van de Beek. There is a high possibility of the midfielder playing for the White and Blues next season.
Erik ten Hag has already informed the Holland national that he does not feature in the Old Trafford side’s plans going forward. It is understandable, considering the former Ajax Amsterdam star’s stint in Manchester.
United signed Van de Beek in the summer of 2020 for €45 million. In the Netherlands under the Dutch manager, the midfielder was one of the most promising prospects.
Unfortunately, the Holland national has been unable to fulfil that promise at the Old Trafford side. His career has stalled since moving to the Red Devils, with constant injury issues not helping the cause.
In the previous campaign, Van de Beek picked up a knock in January and missed the second half of the season. The midfielder evidently needs regular game time to get back to his feet.

United have signed Mason Mount this summer and already had the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in their ranks. Therefore, it seems wise for the Holland national to move in the coming weeks with minutes hard to come by at the Old Trafford side by the looks of things.
