Middle Eastern outfit Al Nassr linked with a move for Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly

According to the Sun, Manchester United outcast Eric Bailly is considering a move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr this summer.

And the Ivory Coast international is keen to restart his career at the Middle Eastern club, where he will reunite with his former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Given the prospect of limited playing opportunities for the African defender at Old Trafford in the upcoming season, it appears logical for him to seek an exit from the club.

At 29 years old, he’s at a point in his career where consistent game time is crucial, making a move to Al Nassr a suitable option to fulfil this need.

The Saudi Pro League side is also interested in the player, and they could be open to presenting him with an attractive contract offer, which could prove alluring for the defender considering his current career stage.

This could potentially secure his financial future. Bailly’s move to United from Villarreal came with high hopes, with expectations for him to evolve into an elite defender.

Regrettably, his journey was hindered by persistent injury issues, preventing him from fully realising his immense potential.

Despite these setbacks, Bailly’s addition to the Red Devils was indeed noteworthy and is poised to bring a similar level of quality to the Saudi Arabian club.

His presence is expected to bolster their defensive capabilities and enhance their overall team solidity. Erik ten Hag has continued to stick with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his key centre-back pairing.

It is difficult for the African star to displace any of these players. Hence, a permanent exit would be the best option for Bailly.

United might be considering adding further skill and depth to their defensive lineup. However, it remains uncertain whether they will secure the services of another central defender before the closure of the summer transfer window.

Things may change if they are able to sell Harry Maguire along with Bailly, which could make it an absolute necessity to sign a new defender.

The Red Devils need squad depth in order to compete with teams like Manchester City and Arsenal next season. Heading into the season with a lack of options will hurt the club in the long run.

United are not in a stronger negotiating position for Bailly since the defender has just one year left on his contract. However, every penny counts at this stage.
