Spanish giants Atletico Madrid could soon line up a bid for Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat has rejected an opportunity to join Barcelona and instead expressed his desire to play under the management of Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

The Moroccan international is considering a potential transfer from Fiorentina this summer, and there has been consistent speculation connecting him to Man United in recent times.

Although the midfielder is said to have reached an agreement regarding personal terms for a transfer to Old Trafford, Sport has put forward a completely different story, stating that Atletico Madrid are in a more favourable position to secure his signing.

The 26-year-old player has supposedly declined an opportunity to join Barcelona. Presently, his desire is to collaborate with Simeone, a coach who has been monitoring him since the previous World Cup.

While several prominent European clubs have displayed interest in Amrabat, his preference is set on joining Atletico.

According to the Spanish source, any club will have to pay a fee of €40 million to land the defensive midfielder this summer. It appears that Atletico are planning to make a similar offer, and it’s expected to happen in the near future.

For several weeks now, there have been speculations about United’s serious interest in Amrabat. The club might take concrete steps in this direction once they generate funds from midfield departures in the upcoming days.

Fred is expected to leave before the week concludes. Concurrently, West Ham United have shown interest in Scott McTominay. Donny van de Beek is also a potential candidate for departure.

Consequently, United should be preparing to present an official offer for the Serie A star in the near future, but they should remain cautious due to Atletico’s interest.

These rumours could still be a way to prompt United to accelerate their talks with Fiorentina. The could would be relieved by the fact that the African honcho has said yes to a transfer.

The fans are hopeful that the club will send a bid as soon as possible in order to evade other suitors.

Amrabat has a history of playing under Ten Hag during his early days at FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie. Since then, he has consistently improved his performance.

The experienced midfield anchor became a standout player during Morocco’s impressive journey in the Qatar World Cup last year. His current contract with the Serie A team is set to end next year, and that could be the end of his tenure in Italy.

Hence, while there might be some urgency for the Red Devils to accelerate their pursuit of Amrabat due to increasing interest, these La Liga claims need more confirmation.
