Manchester United will attempt to sign Real Madrid star David Alaba this summer
Real Madrid star David Alaba is on the radar of Manchester United and the club will attempt to sign him this summer, according to Spanish outlet Todofichajes.
The Red Devils plan on pursuing the Austria international’s signature in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the Old Trafford side are willing to pay €40 million plus add-ons to acquire his services.
Saudi Arabian teams have attempted to entice the defender. However, the 31-year-old is keen to stay in Europe for now and dreams of a move to the Premier League.
Last summer, United signed Casemiro from Los Rojiblancos for a £70 million package fee. The 31-year-old has ended up being an inspiring addition to the Red Devils’ squad.
In the 2022/23 term, the midfielder cemented his place in the number six position and added much-needed quality to our engine room. The Brazilian was essential to our success and we struggled to get positive results without him.
Alaba is another experienced head with a lot of pedigree when it comes to winning trophies. The defender had a successful spell at Bayern Munich before moving to Madrid in the summer of 2021 as a free agent.
Having started as a left-back, he has transitioned into a central defender over the years. Carlo Ancelotti’s team ended up lifting the Champions League and La Liga trophy in the 2021/22 term.
At United, the backline consists of the likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire. On the left-hand side of the defence, Luke Shaw put in consistent performances in Erik ten Hag’s first year in charge.
