Manchester United are not in a rush to sell Scott Mctominay but accept that he is their most sellable asset
According to the Sun, Manchester United are not in a rush to sell midfielder Scott Mctominay and there is a feeling that he could even be kept at the club this summer. Instead, the club would be happy to offload Fred and Donny van de Beek.
Mctominay’s future at United has been uncertain over the past couple of months with many believing that the signing of Mason Mount and the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo would result in reduced game-time for the Scotland International.
United have always kept a stance that they see him as an important first-team player and are not in a rush to sell him. Coming from the Academy and showing utmost professionalism, Mctominay is a good presence in the dressing room.
However, a host of clubs have shown interest in the player most notably West Ham United and Newcastle United while AS Roma have also been linked with the player.
West Ham recently made a verbal offer of £60million for both Mctominay and Harry Maguire but it is likely to be rejected by United as they value Mctominay between £40m-£45m.
If a club is willing to pay the desired fee, then United may look to sell the midfielder and try to get in one midfielder from the money raised.
However, of all the midfielders in the club who are not guaranteed starters, Mctominay is behind Fred and Donny Van de Beek in terms of their chances to leave the club before the window closes.
It remains to be seen whether West Ham up their offer in the coming days or a new team enters the frame which might lead to United considering the offers and it is also dependent on the player wanting to move.
