Gary Neville believes Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane holding out for Manchester United move
Manchester United icon Gary Neville believes Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is holding out for a move to Manchester United.
As things stand, the Red Devils are not in the race to acquire the services of the England international owing to his valuation and the North London side’s unwillingness to negotiate with a rival.
Instead, Bayern Munich are pursuing the 30-year-old’s signature for now. However, Spurs have rejected a number of proposals from the Bundesliga giants over the last few weeks. The striker has decided he will not leave the Lilywhites after the start of the Premier League in the coming days.
Speaking on The Overlap on YouTube (h/t Metro), Neville, who spent his entire playing career at United, feels Tottenham are reluctant to accept an offer for Kane because they think he will turn around and demand a move to the Red Devils.
“Do you know why they [Spurs] are rejecting bids? Because they know he”s not going to go. Daniel Levy’s sat there thinking the minute I accept €100m, Harry will say no I don’t want to go there but I’ll go there [United] for €100m and then Levy’s in trouble.”
While what the ex-defender is saying seems like a long shot, it is curious to see Daniel Levy rejecting bids for the English skipper this summer when they could lose him for free in a year’s time.
Kane’s current contract with the North London side is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Hopefully, the striker will stay at Spurs in the ongoing transfer window. Then, the Red Devils will arguably be one of the teams in the race to get a hold of his signature as a free agent.
But the English national has made his way through the youth ranks at Tottenham. Thus, it will be interesting to see whether the forward will opt to run down his deal.
However, despite Kane being one of the best players in the Premier League era, he has been unable to get his hands on any silverware. Therefore, a move away from the Lilywhites would not be surprising either.
