Bologna ‘preparing’ a move for Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri
Manchester United star Facundo Pellistri is attracting interest from Bologna, who are ‘preparing’ a move for him this summer, according to Quotidiano Nazionale (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Serie A outfit are looking to acquire the 21-year-old’s services in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the Italians want to take the youngster on loan with an option or obligation to buy at the end of it.
While the Red Devils did plan on sending the Uruguay international out on loan, with Amad Diallo’s injury, it remains to be seen whether that will be the case in the coming weeks.
As things stand, there have been no speculations regarding the fee Bologna would be willing to pay for Pellistri. However, it does not seem wise to sell an exciting prospect like him just yet.
United signed the Uruguayan in the summer of 2020 from Penarol. Subsequently, the youngster spent 18 months on loan at Deportivo Alaves but was unable to make much of an impact in Spain.
Last summer, the forward ended up staying at the Old Trafford side. Unfortunately, opportunities in the first team were few and far between for him under Erik ten Hag.
However, the gaffer did come around to giving Pellistri some minutes in the second half of the 2022/23 term. The winger ended up making 10 appearances in all competitions, providing one assist.
Antony is the only option on the right wing that Ten Hag seemed to count on last season. But the Brazilian had his fair share of fitness niggles and Bruno Fernandes often was deployed on the right-hand side of the attack.

We now also have Mason Mont, who can play on the wings. However, it is Pellistri’s natural role which arguably makes him a much more suitable candidate. But it remains to be seen whether Bologna or any other team will convince the Old Trafford side to part ways with him in the coming weeks.
