Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Manchester United set for new contract talks
Manchester United are set to open talks regarding a new contract with Aaron Wan-Bissaka to secure his future, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Manchester Evening News).
As things stand, the English national’s existing deal with the Red Devils is set to expire next year. However, the Old Trafford side do have the option to extend it by a further season.
Last summer, the 25-year-old was put up for sale by United, with Erik ten Hag not fancying him. However, the right-back has managed to make a place for himself in the gaffer’s plans over the last few months.
United signed Wan-Bissaka in the summer of 2019 from Crystal Palace. Subsequently, the defender was one of the first names on the team sheet for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his stint in the Red Devils’ dugout.
However, with the Norwegian manager’s departure, the English national’s fortunes changed a bit. Former interim manager Ralf Rangnick gave Diogo Dalot opportunities in the team.
Then, with the arrival of Ten Hag, the first half of the 2022/23 term saw the Portugal international pip Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order.
However, after the 2022 World Cup, the former FC Porto star’s form dropped a bit and the English national took his chances with both hands. By the end of the previous campaign, the former Palace star had got his place back in the starting lineup.
Wan-Bissaka made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Old Trafford side last season. He started in eight of our last 10 matches in the Premier League in the previous campaign.

As things stand, we have two decent options at the right-hand side of the defence. Considering the English national’s displays in the last few months. It would be wise to tie him down to a new contract to protect his valuation.
