Dony van de Beek transfer ‘make or break’ week between Manchester United and Real Sociedad
Manchester United and Real Sociedad will enter a ‘make or break’ week in the negotiations for the transfer of Donny van de Beek, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on the Daily Briefing (h/t Manchester Evening News).
As things stand, the La Liga outfit are looking to get the Holland national on loan. The midfielder’s injury issues over the years are a concern for the Spanish outfit.
However, the Reale Arena side are willing to include an option to buy him in the deal. However, for now, the two parties are still working out the details regarding how the 26-year-old’s £140,000 per week wages will be split.
United signed Van de Beek in the summer of 2020 from Ajax Amsterdam. The Holland national was one of the best prospects at the Eredivisie outfit under Erik ten Hag.
Unfortunately, the midfielder’s career at the Red Devils has stagnated. Constant fitness issues have not helped his cause, either.
Since moving to Manchester, Van de Beek has missed 52 games for us in all competitions. The midfielder was out of action for most of last season after picking up an injury in January.
At United, the middle of the park has been bolstered with the arrival of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount since last summer. As a result, it is not a surprise that the Holland national has not been the first name on the Old Trafford side’s team sheet despite Ten Hag’s appointment.
La Real are an impressive team. The La Liga outfit will be playing in the Champions League next season. Under Imanol Alguacil, the Spanish side have played some exciting football.

Van de Beek evidently needs regular game time to get back to his best. However, that seems difficult at the Red Devils with the abundance of talent at the gaffer’s disposal. Will the Holland national move to the Reale Arena side in the coming weeks? Only time will tell.
