Fiorentina received no offers from Manchester United for Sofyan Amrabat as they set their price tag
According to Italian outlet La Repubblica (h/t the Manchester Evening News), Fiorentina have named their asking price for midfield anchor Sofyan Amrabat, as they brace for offers from Manchester United.
The Red Devils have already secured three signings in Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund during this transfer window.
Amrabat could potentially be the next player to join the club. The Moroccan star was recently excluded from the Sela Cup due to a minor foot issue, which has further fueled speculation about his potential departure from the club.
According to La Repubblica, United are considered a frontrunner in the race to sign the 26-year-old. While the Red Devils have not yet made a formal offer, it is said that they have reached an agreement on personal terms with the player.
Fiorentina are believed to be seeking €30 million for Amrabat’s transfer, but they may be willing to accept an initial fee of €25m along with additional bonuses to facilitate his move in the coming days. United have a track record of negotiating one deal at a time.
They prioritised the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea before turning their attention to Inter Milan star Andre Onana.
Once the goalkeeper’s signing was secured, discussions with Atalanta for Hojlund were accelerated, and the Dane has already been presented to the fans at Old Trafford. Now, Amrabat is the next player on their radar.
The highly-regarded midfielder is keen on making the switch to United, but the club may choose to delay his arrival until they offload a couple of midfielders.
Fred, Donny van de Beek, and Scott McTominay have been linked with potential exits, with Fred being the most likely candidate due to his contract entering its final year.
Van de Beek appears to be the next player likely to leave the club. However, according to the Athletic [subscription required] (h/t the Express), the preference is to retain McTominay unless a substantial transfer offer comes in.
The potential signing of Amrabat could be a significant boost for Man United in building a strong midfield core.
The versatile player, who emerged from Utrecht’s ranks, is most comfortable at number six in midfield. His addition would provide tough competition for Casemiro, as Amrabat boasts excellent passing accuracy and possession control.
It’s no secret that Ten Hag has been very selective in his transfer plans, and the African honcho’s signing could be the final nail in the coffin.
However, the club needs to be swift to execute their plans. There are risks of the transfer being hijacked or being a failed move if the Red Devils keep it too late in the window.

It is highly unlikely that the deal will be closed before the start of the new season. United should be relieved by the fact that no other club has shown serious interest in the player this summer.
But things may change at any time if they risk playing the game against time.
