Manchester United are eyeing Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus as an alternative to Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund
According to The Mirror (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have identified Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus as an alternative to Rasmus Hojlund.
United have made Hojlund their primary target to solve the striker issue and are readying a formal bid to be sent to Atalanta soon. However, it is always good to have alternatives should any obstacle turn up.
Atalanta wants a huge sum for the Danish International and United are adamant that they will not pay anything above what they feel is the correct valuation for the player. Thankfully, we wont be held hostage anymore.
Hence, they are ready to shift their attention to other viable targets if a deal for Hojlund does not go through and Kudus is the player expected to be the alternative.
Erik ten Hag knows all about Kudus having worked with the player in their time together at Ajax Amsterdam and knows what the versatile forward can bring to the team. The chance to reunite him with Antony could also help us get the best out of the Brazilian.
Kudus is very different from a typical no. 9 and can play a variety of roles all across the attacking phases hence providing Ten Hag with more options to play with.
It is claimed that Arsenal are also in the race for the player and hence it would not be an easy job to complete his signing in case a deal for Hojlund is off.
However, for the time being, United are concentrated on getting the Hojlund deal over the line with Ten Hag seeing him as the perfect striker for his project.
