PSG intend to keep Xavi Simons amidst Manchester United interest
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) see the long-term future of Xavi Simons at the Parc des Princes side amidst interest from Manchester United, according to CaughtOffside (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Parisians had sold the Holland international to PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2022. However, after an impressive campaign in the Netherlands, the Ligue 1 outfit decided to exercise their buy-back option recently.
However, as things stand, the midfielder has once again been sent out on loan. He has joined RB Leipzig for the 2023/24 term. But the French champions see the 20-year-old as a key part of their plans in the coming years.
Apart from the Red Devils, a number of other top European teams have Simons on their radar. But it does not look like PSG are keen to part ways with him anytime soon.
The Holland national made his way through Barcelona’s La Masia before signing for the Parisians. Subsequently, he broke into the first team at the Parc des Princes side but faced a lot of competition.
It is at PSV where the youngster found his feet. In 48 appearances in all competitions for the Eindhoven-based club, the 20-year-old scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists.
Simons is capable of playing in multiple attacking positions. At United, we already have Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 role. On the left wing, Marcus Rashford was our talisman last season under Erik ten Hag.
Also, the gaffer has the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony at his disposal. However, what we seemingly lack is a number nine. Anthony Martial is the only natural option in the position but has been injury prone.

The Holland national would have evidently added much-needed depth to our attacking line. However, it remains to be seen whether PSG will change their stance regarding the 20-year-old in the coming future.
