Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Ambrabat on Manchester United summer shortlist

Manchester United have Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat on their midfield shortlist in the ongoing transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The Red Devils have their eyes on the Morocco international to bolster their engine room this summer. However, nothing is concrete as of yet, with the Old Trafford side yet to table an offer for the midfielder to the Florence-based club.

At the moment, United are focusing on adding reinforcements up front and are prioritising a move for Atalanta’s Rasmus Holund. Any new addition to the middle of the park will depend on the departures of the likes of Fred and Donny van de Beek.

Fiorentina signed Amrabat in 2020. The 26-year-old has previously played under Erik ten Hag during his time at FC Utrecht. Now, the midfielder has developed into a quality enforcer.

He has been a key player for the Viola over the years. However, in the previous campaign, the midfielder took his game to the next level and was pivotal for the Serie A outfit as they reached the UEFA Europa Conference League final.

Amrabat caught a lot of people’s attention with his performances in the 2022 World Cup as well. Walid Regragui’s team made it to the semi-finals, with the 26-year-old playing as a centre-back on a few occasions.

At United, Erik ten Hag has Casemiro at his disposal. The former Real Madrid star has cemented his place in the starting lineup under Ten Hag and was essential to our success last season.

Unfortunately, without the 31-year-old in our lineup, we struggled for positive results in the previous campaign. The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay were unable to provide adequate cover in the absence of Brazil’s captain.

Therefore, we could evidently do with more depth in the engine room. Amrabat has proven his skills at the top level. However, will the Old Trafford side sign the Moroccan this summer? Only time will tell.
