Real Madrid defender David Alaba on Manchester United radar
Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of David Alaba from Real Madrid in the ongoing transfer window, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional.
The Red Devils have the Austria international on their radar and are considering making a move for him this summer. There is uncertainty around the defender’s future at Los Blancos and he is open to listening to the Old Trafford side’s offer.
Erik ten Hag is optimistic about getting a hold of the 31-year-old’s signature. United are prepared to pursue the versatile star if the La Liga outfit are willing to part ways with him.
However, the Red Devils are not the only team who have been linked with Alaba recently. Serie A giants Juventus and French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also been associated with the defender.
Madrid signed the Austrian in the summer of 2021 as a free agent after he left Bayern Munich. Since then, the defender has been a pivotal player for the Santiago Bernabeu side.
Alaba made a name for himself as a left-back. However, over the last few years, the 31-year-old has developed into a great centre-back and has primarily played that position under Carlo Ancelotti.
At United, we have two great options on both of our defensive flanks. Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bisskaa, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.
As for the central defensive area, the Red Devils relied on the partnership of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane in the previous campaign. We also have Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire in our ranks for now.

It is difficult to envision Alaba being guaranteed a place in the starting lineup at the Old Trafford side. Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether Ten Hag will push to sign him.
