Napoli boss confident Manchester United target Victor Osimhen will stay
Rudi Garcia, who was recently appointed the manager of Napoli, is confident that Victor Osimhen will stay amidst interest from Manchester United.
As per RMC Sport journalist Sacha Tavolieri (h/t Manchester Evening News), the Red Devils are one of the teams interested in acquiring the Nigeria international’s services in the ongoing transfer window.
However, speaking to the media via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Garcia expressed optimism and assured the 24-year-old would not leave the Partenopei in the ongoing transfer window.
“I can guarantee that Osimhen wants to stay at Napoli. He’s happy here and he wants to do great things”
Napoli signed Osimhen in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. Since then, the Nigerian has been a key player for the Serie A giants over the years. But the forward took his game to another level last season.
The Partenopei won the Scudetto under Luciano Spalletti in the previous campaign, ending their 33-year league drought. To that end, the 24-year-old was pivotal in the Italian outfit’s success.
Osimhen was the Naples-based club’s talisman. However, they also possess other exciting attacking talents like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Hirving Lozano, Giovani Simeone and Giacomo Raspadori.

At United, Erik ten hag lacks an abundance of options up front. Anthony Martial is the only natural striker in our ranks at the moment. In the previous campaign, the French national was injury-prone.
As a result, the gaffer had to rely mainly on Marcus Rashford to find the back of the net last season. Thankfully, the English national was up to the task. Although, towards the end of the campaign, the 25-year-old faltered a bit.

Therefore, we evidently cannot go into the 2023/24 term with just one number nine, especially someone as unreliable as Martial. Osimhen has showcased world-class talent. But will the Red Devils be able to get a hold of his signature? Only time will tell.
