Manchester United target Victor Osimhen is close to agreeing a new deal with SSC Napoli
According to Corriere del Mezzogiorno (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United target Victor Osimhen is close to agreeing on a new deal with SSC Napoli.
Osimhen was the star of Serie A last season and guided his club to a long-awaited Scudetto, carving his name into the echelons of one of the most historical clubs in Italy.
It was claimed that Osimhen might move to a top team after an impressive season in Italy but the latest suggestions are that Napoli are keen to tie him down to a new contract.

This would be a huge blow to Erik Ten Hag and United who had scouted him extensively last season and was seen as one of the primary targets to fill up the striker position at the club.
The only hindrance has been the price tag on the player with Napoli demanding a huge fee from the interested clubs to negotiate over a deal.
United, on the other hand, are still lurking under the uncertainty surrounding the ownership and the fans as well as the staff are eagerly waiting for the matter to be resolved.
One of the reasons behind the impatience growing each day is the fact that the delay in handing over the ownership would directly impact the business we do on the transfer market.

At a time when it is crucial for us to invest big to reach the next step, it seems like the club is happy being in the current position that we are in and not wanting to challenge the likes of Manchester City.
A club of the history and prestige of United should be going all out for top players like Osimhen, who has the capacity to completely change the level of the current squad and instantly elevate the level.
