Eintracht Frankfurt shot-stopper Kevin Trapp an alternative to Inter Milan’s Andre Onana for Manchester United
Manchester United have identified Eintracht Frankfurt shot-stopper Kevin Trapp as one of the alternatives for Inter Milan’s Andre Onana, according to the Mirror.
As things stand, David de Gea is a free agent after his contract with the Red Devils expired a few days back. Now, Erik ten Hag wants to add a new number one to the Old Trafford side’s ranks in the ongoing transfer window.
However, this summer, the Dutch manager has limited funds. The gaffer also wants a new quality number nine and defender at his disposal. As a result, the club are eyeing cheaper options to bolster the goalkeeping department.
Onana will command a considerable price tag. On the other hand, Trapp could be available for only £10 million. The 32-year-old German is an experienced shot-stopper. Also, Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow is being eyed by United.
Trapp has been at Eintracht for several years now. The shot-stopper also had a stint at Paris Saint-Germain. However, he subsequently returned to the Bundesliga outfit.
In the 2021/22 campaign, the 32-year-old lifted his first trophy with Die Adler. The German was instrumental in the Frankfurt-based club’s Europa League triumph.
At United, De Gea is not linked with the club anymore. But the Red Devils have left the door open for the Spaniard to be a part of our squad next season.
But for now, Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton are the only two senior options in our goalkeeping department. However, the former on-loan Nottingham Forest star could be sold in the coming months.

Therefore, adding a new shot-stopper seems to be on the top of the agenda for the Old Trafford side. But Trapp’s name does not instil a lot of confidence, considering his age and pedigree in between the sticks.
