Manchester United are keeping track of 25-year-old Monaco star

Manchester United track Axel Disasi in response to potentially losing out on Kim Min-jae

As per Mirror transfer live, Manchester United are keeping track of Monaco defender Axel Disasi as they prepare to lose out on Kim Min-jae.

United had a long-standing interest to sign Napoli centre-back Min-jae, but it seems like Bayern Munich have stepped in and taken charge of what needs to be done to get the South Korean international.

Disasi, who was a Red Devils target before, is now being eyed again. He is a right-footed defender who is predominantly a centre-back, but can play as a right-back.

The French international is a solid player who is aerially very good, does read the game well, can pass it out from the back and loves a tackle or two.

United have Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as their first-choice centre-back pairing if both are fit. But, there isn’t much other than that. Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are not good enough while playing Luke Shaw there is hindering his capability of making an impact as a left-back (his favoured position).

So, just as how it made sense to try and sign Min-jae, getting Disasi in this transfer window would be good for the strength of the squad in the defensive department.

The 25-year-old can either perform the backup role or be a first-choice option if the performances are good. During his first season in charge, we have seen Erik ten Hag not afraid of dropping big players if they are underperforming. So, there is always a chance for the backup players to come into the picture.

Let’s hope United manage to get the Disasi deal over the line first. Missing out on Min-jae having gotten close would start to put doubt in the minds of the supporters once again referring to the past transfer failures.
