Marcus Rashford is set for a huge bumper new contract offer from Manchester United

According to The Sun (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United are set to offer a lucrative offer to star forward Marcus Rashford. Rashford had the best season of his career so far and was the first United player post-Robin Van Persie to score 30 goals in a single season.

It speaks volumes of the high levels that the 25-year-old showed and was a key figure behind United’s third-place finish in the Premier League.

Indeed, he is the star player of the team around whom Erik Ten Hag will be keen to build the team around. Rashford’s current contract expires in 2024, although the club can extend it by one more season.

Regardless, the club sees the England international as untouchable and are keen to tie him down to a new bumper contract.

The likes of Paris St. Germain have shown interest in the past and United would be wary of not dragging the negotiations to the last minute. Getting Rashford to sign a new contract would be a priority for the club this summer as they look to build on the promising first season under Ten Hag.

He has shown this season he has the ability and characteristics to be the leading man and is at the prime age and physical condition to be the superstar at Old Trafford.

Since his debut, Rashford has always shown glimpses of huge potential but this season he truly came on his own and showed a different side to his game.

No wonder the club and the fanbase are keen to hold down one of our own to a new contract and United would try to fend off interest by offering wages in the region of £375,000-a-week, which would make him the highest-paid player at the club.

The next objective would be to create a team capable of challenging for the title and Rashford certainly would have a big part to play in that.
