Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana on Manchester United radar
Manchester United have Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana on their radar as their potential new number one in the ongoing transfer window, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required).
The Red Devils have their eye on the goalkeeper market, with David de Gea’s future uncertain. The 32-year-old’s current contract with the Old Trafford side is set to expire at the end of the month. While a new deal has been agreed in principle, nothing has been signed yet.
As things stand, United are prioritising the addition of a number nine and a central midfielder this summer. However, if the Spaniard were to leave, a move for the Cameroonian would be likely.
The 27-year-old signed for the Nerazzurri last summer as a free agent. As things stand, the goalkeeper is tied down at the Serie A giants until June 2027. Thus, the Italian outfit could demand €70 million to part ways with him.
Onana developed and made a name for himself under Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam. The Cameroonian is familiar with the Dutch manager’s ideas and style of play.
The gaffer would evidently be keen on adding a shot-stopper to his ranks who could complement the Red Devils’ current setup. To that end, the 27-year-old seems like a good option, considering his display against Manchester City in the Champions League final.
De Gea was Ten Hag’s first choice last season. However, the Spaniard did not look comfortable playing the ball out from the back. The veteran goalkeeper also made a number of errors that led to goals.
As per the Manchester Evening News, it is likely that the 32-year-old will leave the Old Trafford side as a free agent in the coming weeks.

Therefore, it would be wise for us to plan for a future without De Gea. Onana looks like a decent option to have our eyes on. But with Chelsea also interested, will the Red Devils be able to acquire the Inter shot-stopper’s services? It remains to be seen.
