SL Benfica open to Manchester United target Goncalo Ramos exit this summer
Manchester United target Goncalo Ramos could be allowed to leave SL Benfica in the ongoing transfer window for the right price, according to the Mirror.
The Portugal international’s representative, superagent Jorge Mendes, has been given the authority to sell his client. As things stand, the Primeira Liga outfit are open to cashing in on their talisman this summer.
However, in order to acquire the services of the striker, interested parties will need to pay at least £80 million plus add-ons. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will pursue the 21-year-old’s signature in the coming weeks.
Erik ten Hag is keen to add more quality up front to the Old Trafford side’s squad. To that end, Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane has been identified as the top target. But the Manchester-based club are not looking to involve themselves in drawn-out negotiations for the English skipper.
Ramos is an up-and-coming star with a lot of potential. The Portuguese made his way through the youth ranks at Benfica. In the 2022/23 campaign, the youngster broke onto the scene in fine fashion.
The 21-year-old did not let the Eagles feel the absence of Darqin Nunez, who signed for Liverpool last summer. In the 2022 World Cup, the striker caught a lot of people’s attention as well with his impressive displays.
United had a lack of options in the number nine position last season. Anthony Martial’s fitness issues meant that Ten Hag was unable to call upon the French national consistently.
In January, the Old Trafford side signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley. While the Holland international’s work rate was admirable, the 30-year-old struggled to make much of an impact in the final third for the Red Devils.

Therefore, we seemingly require a quality striker in our ranks. Ramos is still a bit inexperienced. Nunez struggled in his first year at Liverpool. Thus, will the Manchester-based club take a chance on the Portuguese? Only time will tell.
