Bayern Munich close to contract agreement with Manchester United target and Napoli defender Kim Min-jae
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are close to agreeing a contract with Napoli defender Kim Min-jae amidst interest from Manchester United, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Bavarians are on the verge of coming to a consensus with the South Korea international regarding personal terms. As things stand, the Allianz Arena side have ‘almost agreed’ a deal until 2028 with the 26-year-old.
Bayern plan on paying the release clause of Min-jae in July. While the Red Devils have the defender on their radar, no fresh bid has been made so far by the Old Trafford side.

In the summer of 2022, the Partenopei signed the South Korean from Fenerbahce. The centre-back was brought in to fill the hole left by the exit of Kalidou Koulibaly at the Italian outfit.
Subsequently, Napoli did not feel the absence of the Senegalese, with the 26-year-old putting in some impressive displays. The Naples-based club ended up lifting the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.
Last season, Bayern did not look their best. Defensively, the Bavarians were all over the place as they took on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals. Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt were shaky.
As for United, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have formed a formidable partnership under Erik ten Hag. The two World Cup winners were the gaffer’s preferred duo in the backline.
The former Ajax head coach can also call upon Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. The Swedish national did well when called upon in the absence of the Argentina international at the end of the previous campaign.

Therefore, we evidently have decent quality and depth in defence. Therefore, if Bayern were to end up signing Min-jae, it would seemingly not be a big blow for us.
