Brighton & Hove Albion duo Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo are expected to leave the Seagulls next summer amidst links to Manchester United.

The two midfielders featured in the Amex Stadium side’s final game of the 2022/23 campaign in the Premier League against Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s team beat them. But the East Sussex-based club will be playing in the Europa League next season.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi admitted that the Argentina and Ecuador internationals could have played their final game for the Seagulls.

“I think it can be the last game for Alexis and Moises. I am really sorry because they are two great people and two great players but the policy of Brighton is like this.”

Mac Allister has thrived at the Amex Stadium side in the current campaign. Having made a name for himself last season, the 24-year-old has come into his own in the last few months.

Apart from enjoying his time at Brighton, the Argentine also lifted the World Cup trophy in Qatar with his national side. The midfielder was a key player for Lionel Scaloni’s team.

As for Caicedo, he has also been a revelation in the English top flight in the last few months. The 21-year-old has been the Seagulls’ enforcer in the engine room this season.

United’s midfield was bolstered by Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer. The two have become essential cogs for Erik ten Hag in the team. Unfortunately, in their absence, the team does not perform at an optimal level.

On the bench, the gaffer has the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek at his disposal. However, all three of them have been inconsistent during their time at the Old Trafford side.
