Wout Weghorst reveals Manchester United are “satisfied” with him
Manchester United star Wout Weghorst has revealed that in his conversations with the Old Trafford side, the striker has been told that the club are “satisfied” with him.
The Holland international joined the Red Devils on loan from Burnley in the previous transfer window. Since then, the 30-year-old has played a pivotal role in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
Speaking to The Times via Manchester Evening News, Weghorst acknowledges talks of his move not being made permanent. However, it has been communicated to the forward by United that he is an asset.
“In those [talks] the club said they are very satisfied with me. It has absolutely not been communicated with me that Man United don’t want to continue with me.
“They appreciate my value. They believe I am absolutely an asset for the team. Of course I have heard different things [in the media]. I have to wait and see what happens and focus on our goals in the league and cup competitions.”
He is only on a temporary move at the Old Trafford side until the end of the season. Beyond that, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the striker, with no option or obligation to buy him.
At Wolfsburg, the 30-year-old made a name for himself as a prolific attacker. Then, in January 2022, Burnley came calling for the Holland international’s services.
But Weghorst was unable to help the Clarets survive the drop. Subsequently, last summer, he left the Turf Moor side and joined Besiktas on loan.
However, United were in need of some cover up top after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure mid-way through the campaign. As a result, we turned to the Holland international for the same.
Due to the fitness issues of Anthony Martial, the 30-year-old has had a pivotal role to play in the Red Devils’ starting lineup over the last few months. But while the striker has worked hard, he has left a lot to be desired in front of goal.

Weghorst’s desire on the pitch is admirable. Unfortunately, with all due respect, the Holland international is not up to the Old Trafford side’s standards. If the 30-year-old would be happy to be the third or fourth-choice striker, then we could think about signing him again.
