La Liga giants Real Madrid have dropped out of the race for Manchester United target and Eintracht Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional.

At the moment, Los Blancos are in search of a new number nine to take the mantle away from Karim Benzema. The 35-year-old is not getting younger, having been part of the Santiago Bernabeu side’s attack since 2009.

As things stand, Madrid are keeping an eye on a number of talented players. Kolo Muani has also popped up on the Spanish outfit’s radar after his impressive season. The Red Devils, along with Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea, are also monitoring the France international.

But Eintracht Frankfurt have no intention of parting ways with the 24-year-old for cheap. The Bundesliga outfit will not entertain offers below €90 million for him, which is a stumbling block for Los Blancos.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team have relied heavily on Benzema over the years to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. The Santiago Bernabeu side evidently lack quality on the bench, with Mariano Diaz the lone backup for the number nine position.

Kolo Muani has thrived in Germany since arriving at Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer last summer. In 42 appearances in all competitions for Oliver Glasner’s team, the 24-year-old has found the back of the net 21 times and has provided 15 assists.

At United, Erik ten Hag has had a dearth of options up front. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghjorst are the only two natural strikers the Dutch manager can rely on for now.

The gaffer has counted on Marcus Rashford to contribute upfront. Apart from the 25-year-old, our other attackers have been underwhelming in terms of their goals and assists.

Therefore, the Red Devils seemingly require someone of Kolo Muani’s ilk in their squad. However, it remains to be seen whether, like Madrid, the Old Trafford side will also find Eintracht Frankfurt’s asking price for Kolo Muani too steep.
