West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice added to Manchester United summer shortlist
Manchester United have added West Ham United star Declan Rice to their wishlist ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to The Sun (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils will look to bolster their engine room next summer. To that end, Erik ten Hag has appreciated the England international for some time now.
In the coming months, the 24-year-old is expected to leave the Hammers and start a new chapter in his career. The Old Trafford side are set to make a move for the midfielder.
Man United will look to take advantage of Rices’ connection with some of the English contingent at the Old Trafford side. The Red Devils could look to build a team around the East London-based club’s captain.
The England international started at the Chelsea academy before moving to West Ham. After making his way through the youth ranks at the Irons, the 24-year-old is now an established Premier League midfielder.
Rice has been one of the best in the number six position in the English top flight for the past few seasons. The English national put in an impressive display against us recently in the 1-0 victory for David Moyes’ team.
But Man United already have enough quality in the midfield pivot with Casemiro. The Brazil international signed for the Red Devils last summer. The 31-year-old has formed an admirable partnership with Christian Eriksen in the middle of the park.
The former Real Madrid star has added much-needed quality to the Old Trafford side’s engine room. However, in his absence, the Manchester-based club have seemingly lacked adequate cover.

Therefore, Man United could evidently do with an understudy for Casemiro. But will a quality player like Rice want to compete for minutes in a team? Only time will tell.
