Manchester City and Manchester United eyeing move for PSG full-back Achraf Hakimi
Manchester United, along with Manchester City, are looking to acquire the services of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Morocco star Achraf Hakimi, according to Team Talk via Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Red Devils are eyeing a world-class right-back to bolster their defence. Over the years, the 24-year-old has developed into a quality full-back, with the Old Trafford side admiring his experience and offensive qualities.
However, the Manchester-based club will face competition to get a hold of Hakimi. Premier League rivals Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s team also have the Moroccan on their radar.
The Sky Blues want to reinforce their right-back position as well. Kyle Walker is being linked with a move away from the Cityzens. The PSG full-back is someone liked by the management at the Etihad Stadium side.
United have Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in their ranks. The Portugal international was Erik ten Hag’s first choice in the first half of the season. But his form has petered off since the 2022 World Cup.
However, in recent months, the former Crystal Palace star has found his way back into the gaffer’s plans. The English national has put in some encouraging defensive displays.
Hakimi made his way through the youth ranks at Real Madrid. Then, the right-back established himself at Borussia Dortmund before moving to Inter Milan.
PSG signed the Moroccan in the summer of 2021. The 24-year-old has shone for the Parisians and his national side this season. In 36 appearances in all competitions for Christophe Galtier’s team, the right-back has scored four goals and has provided five assists.
