Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes takes brutal dig at Aston Villa fans after 1-0 win

Bruno Fernandes scored the only goal of the game as Manchester United secured a vital 1-0 Premier League win against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The travelling Aston Villa fans seemed fixated on the Portugal international throughout the game, booing and taunting him from the stands. Bruno, nevertheless, responded in the perfect fashion.

He latched on to Marcus Rashford‘s saved shot to score from a tight angle a few minutes before the half-time whistle. The former Sporting CP man then jogged towards the fans and gave them a cold stare.

It was as if to say, ‘I’m the man’. And he really is. The 28-year-old, who is our de facto captain in recent months, has 11 goals and 14 assists in 52 games across competitions this season.

Bruno to the rescue

He is a feisty player on the pitch who likes to get into the opponents’ minds and the referee’s ear. Moreover, he is a world-class player, and that would hardly sit right with any opposition fans.

It is how football is. You do what you can to get the opposition team’s best player off his game. Perhaps that is what the Aston Villa fans were doing.

After the game, Bruno spoke to MUTV, via Manchester Evening News, and took a dig at Aston Villa fans and asked them to focus on supporting their own team’s players.

“Obviously they probably don’t like to play against me, but it is what it is, it’s football, I’m OK with that. They can enjoy the game in the way they want. I would prefer them to come and support their players instead, rather than to be focused on me. But if they think it’s better to be focused on me, than their players, then it is OK. I don’t mind at all.”

Aston Villa fans would genuinely be sick of watching Bruno. He has scored an audacious tally of seven goals against them in eight games, also providing two assists. The win means we are fourth in the table with 63 points from 32 games – seven more than Liverpool, who have played one more game.
