Marcus Rashford to miss a few games due to a groin injury
The Athletic (subscription required) has reported that Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is likely to miss a few games after picking up a groin injury.
Late in the second half against Everton on Saturday, Rashford felt his groin and immediately wanted to be substituted. When asked about the severity, Erik ten Hag wasn’t too positive about the situation and ranted about the scheduling of games.
As it turns out, the England international will miss a few games. He is definitely out of the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final tie against Sevilla on Thursday.
United then face Nottingham Forest on Sunday before encountering the return leg against Sevilla next Thursday. It feels like the 25-year-old might miss both games against the Spanish side, which would be a blow to the Red Devils’ chances of progressing to the semi-final of the Europa League.
Rashford has been in sensational form since the turn of the year. He is not only contributing with goals and assists but also playing well and doing everything with conviction on the field.
It would be interesting to see how United fare without him in key games against Sevilla. Although the Spanish are struggling in the league, they cannot be taken lightly, especially in the Europa League. They are specialists in this competition.
For the first leg, to add to the Rashford absence, ten Hag’s men will miss in form midfielder Scott McTominay, who did not train with the squad due to an injury. Reports say that the Scotsman’s injury is not too serious though. We may expect to see him start the Forest game on Sunday.
