Luke Shaw has signed new four-year contract at Manchester United
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at the Old Trafford side for at least until the summer of 2027, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required).
Last week, the left-back had reached an agreement on the terms set out by the Red Devils. Now, the England international has put pen to paper to secure his future at the Manchester-based club.
The 27-year-old was set to become a free agent at the end of next season. However, United will keep a hold of him for the foreseeable future.
Shaw signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 2014 from Southampton. At the Saints, he was one of the most promising prospects in the Premier League. Subsequently, the Old Trafford side pounced on his signature.
However, the England international has had many ups and downs at the Manchester-based club. Over the years, injuries have hampered the full-back’s game time and development.
Under Jose Mourinho, the 27-year-old had lost his place in the team. The defender had failed to be consistent with his performances in previous campaigns.
However, Shaw has come into his own this season. The arrival of Tyrell Malacia in the summer of 2022 has evidently spurred the left-back.
The England international has become a pivotal player for the Dutch manager at United. He has put in impressive displays week in, week out in the last few months. The 27-year-old has made 36 appearances in all competitions for us since the former Ajax head coach’s arrival, scoring one goal and providing six assists.
