Jordan Pickford set to sign new Everton contract amidst Manchester United interest
England international Jordan Pickford is set to sign a new contract and extend his stay at Everton amidst interest from Manchester United, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Mirror].
The 28-year-old’s existing deal with the Toffees is set to expire in the summer of 2024. In recent times, the shot-stopper had been locked in conversations with the Goodison Park side. Now, he is set to put pen to paper on new terms.
Previously, Pickford emerged as a target for the Red Devils. Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur were also eyeing the England international as the successor to Hugo Lloris.
But the 28-year-old is expected to sign his new contract next week. Everton are currently involved in a relegation battle and the shot-stopper will evidently be a key player for them.
Pickford made his way to Merseyside in the summer of 2017 from Sunderland. Since then, the goalkeeper has developed into a quality player. He has also been the Three Lions’ number one in the last few major tournaments.
However, since last season, the 28-year-old has had to fight for his club’s place in the Premier League. Last season, the England international made some crucial saves in the Toffees’ bid for survival.

Pickford will have to do the same in the current campaign. Earlier in the term, the Goosion Park side replaced Frank Lampard with Sean Dyche. They are currently one point above the relegation zone.
At the moment, David de Gea is the first choice in between the sticks for United. The 32-year-old has been in fine form under Erik ten Hag.
