Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag on the feeling after meeting Sir Alex Ferguson over a dinner

As quoted by the Guardian, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag talked about being grateful to have a chance to speak to Sir Alex Ferguson over a dinner.

The duo met in a restaurant in Wilmslow on Tuesday night. We all know about the legendary status Ferguson has and how he is still willing to impart his knowledge to help the club move forward.

One of his successors – ten Hag, is doing an excellent job. The Dutchman took over a difficult job last summer and has turned the fortunes around with exceptional coaching and remarkable leadership.

Here’s what ten Hag said about meeting with Sir Alex (h/t Guardian):

“It’s massive. I always enjoy speaking with people who have a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience – he wants to share it, he wants to help and support. Manchester United is his club and he feels so committed. We are [getting on] well. It was a great night and I look forward to the next night with him.”

It is good to know that despite the good work ten Hag is doing at the club, he is willing to keep his ears open to get new knowledge from the legend himself. It shows his humility and openness to get better even when he is doing very well by himself.

Starting with the Cristiano Ronaldo situation last summer to the delicate phase of Jadon Sancho, the former Ajax boss has handled everything to a tee. His coaching levels are elite too. The evidence is the rise of Marcus Rashford this season after a hapless last 12 months.

It is because of ten Hag and his management that United are alive in all four competitions at this stage of the campaign. We welcome Barcelona for the return leg of the Europa League tie on Thursday, while a cup final awaits against Newcastle United on Sunday.

While winning the Premier League seems like a tough ask, they are only five points behind the leaders Arsenal with plenty of football still to be played.
