Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford “admired” by Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham
Everton star Jordan Pickford is admired by Manchester United as well as Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old in the past. At the moment, the shot-stopper’s contract with the Toffees expires in the summer of 2024. He seems to be no close to putting pen to paper on a new deal.
Speaking to TEAMtalk (h/t Manchester Evening News), transfer journalist Graeme Bailey revealed the three English top-flight teams’ interest in Pickford. He feels the 29-year-old could get a chance at a big move next summer.
“As it stands, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United could all be on the look out for new number ones and Pickford is admired by them all. Pickford is about to turn 29 and if he wants a big move, this summer could very well be his big chance.”
Currently, Everton are struggling in the PL. Last season, the Goodison Park side survived relegation with some heroic performances from their shot-stopper. However, they are once again in a predicament this term.
At Tottenham, Hugo Lloris is in the final years of his career. The 36-year-old has been inconsistent at Spurs for some time now. He is backed up by Fraser Forster in the squad.
As for Chelsea, they have two established goalkeepers in Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga in their ranks. However, the Senegal international has dropped off in recent months. On the other hand, the former Athletic Bilbao star has been inconsistent in between the sticks for them.
David de Gea has been Erik ten Hag’s preferred option in the current campaign. However, the 32-year-old’s current contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season.
The Spain international has been one of our best players since last term. But with the Dutch manager keen on playing out from the back, will he remain our number one? Only time will tell.
